Art in the Park is celebrating a milestone anniversary this weekend following a two year hiatus.

The 40th annual event, put on by the Rotary Club of Sarnia-Bluewaterland, is set to take place this Saturday at Mike Weir Park in Bright’s Grove.

Event Co-Chair Henry Kulik said over 100 exhibitors will be on hand.

“We’re a juried show which means the vendors have to prove that these are items that they create and make themselves,” said Kulik. “You’ve got artists, potters, jewellers, and you have some culinary specialists. There’s a whole variety of things.”

Kulik said admission is free but donations toward local agencies are being accepted.

“The donations collected will be targeted very specifically to local agencies,” he said. “To give you an example of the number of groups we support… Big Brothers Big Sisters, Rebound, Inn of the Good Shepherd, Habitat For Humanity, St. Clair Child and Youth and Huron House Boys Home. There’s a whole variety of things, and typically the money will go back to a lot of the community groups that provide support for various ventures in the community.”

The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

All are welcome to attend.
