Chatham’s Art in the Park is set to return to its original home.

Organizers plan to return the event to Tecumseh Park on September 25 and 26.

This marks the third year for Art in the Park Chatham, however, in 2020 it was held inside the Downtown Chatham Centre due to pandemic restrictions.

Chris Glassford with Summit Shows Canada said he’s pleased to be able to bring it back to Tecumseh Park, which he said is a perfect spot for the event.

“Right beside us we’ve got the cultural centre downtown, we have the Capitol Theatre and all the little art studios. It’s just the centre and the heart of Chatham’s entertainment and art culture.”

According to Glassford, Art in the Park Chatham has received great feedback since it started.

“We’ve definitely introduced a lot of great artists to Chatham-Kent and local artists, we’ve given them a platform to put their artwork out there and on display for local viewing,” he said. “It has gone really well for the last couple of years.”

According to Glassford, dozens of vendors have already signed up for the 2021 event.

Besides art vendors, Glassford said people can also expect food trucks and art exhibits.

He added that organizers will be able to follow COVID-19 criteria while still keeping it a rather large event.

“Currently being under Stage 3, we are following those guidelines. Obviously, Stage 4 has different criteria,” he explained. “At this time we’re following anything in Stage 3 and as things progress, we will be adapting to Stage 4,” he said.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a vendor or learning more about Art in the Park Chatham can visit the event Facebook page or email SummitShowsCanada@outlook.com

Glassford added that it’s also an ideal year for people to sign up as a first-time vendor at Art in the Park.

“It’s definitely a great year for people to get their feet wet,” he said. “Our vendor fees are lower than normal because we’re trying to help people out after COVID. So it’s a great entry-level year to get involved.”
