Amazon Prime Day 2020 ended earlier this week, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still find some great deals across gaming and tech today. Competing retailers have been getting in on the action with steep discounts on games and tech all week long. Best Buy is one of those retailers that’s been running a big anti-Prime Day sale of its own, and it made the biggest move we’ve ever seen to compete with Amazon by announcing its first Black Friday deals will go live this week.
Select deals from Best Buy’s Black Friday ad went live on Tuesday, offering fantastic discounts on laptops, tablets, and 4K smart TVs along with Arcade1Up cabinets. While the main promotion period is over, this won’t be the last you see of Best Buy’s Black Friday sale. Best Buy plans to release its full Black Friday ad and offer even more deals later this month. For now, there are still plenty of leftover deals from this week’s anti-Prime Day sale at Best Buy, though some of the best deals have returned to full price.
The retailer is also offering a Black Friday price guarantee this year. If you buy anything during the sale that gets an even better deal before November 28, you’ll be reimbursed for the difference. The holiday return period for products has also been extended–anything you buy starting October 13 can be returned for a refund through January 16, 2021.
Sony’s X750H 4K TV is a great budget option, especially at this sale price. It supports HDR 10, a 60Hz refresh rate, and a wide number of smart features like Google Assistant and streaming services.
The Lenovo Legion 5 is a good option for those looking for a laptop under $1,000. During Best Buy’s anti-Prime Day sale, the retailer is discounting it to $950. It comes equipped with an i7-10750H processor, GTX 1660 Ti graphics card, and 8GB of RAM as well as a 512GB SSD that’s plenty space to store a number of big games.
Gaming PC maker iBuyPower is a solid company, and this gaming PC is a pretty good deal at $950. It comes with an i7-9700F processor, GTX 1660, and 16GB of RAM. For storage, it boasts a 240GB SSD and 2TB hard drive, giving you plenty of space for your favourite games on the SSD and everything else on the hard drive.
TCL is one of our favorite smart TV brands, and you can snag this 50-inch 4K Smart Android TV for just $280 during Best Buy’s Black Friday sale, down from its usual $350. It features three HDMI inputs for connecting your consoles and other devices, a customizable home screen for organizing all your various apps and streaming services, and Google Assistant integration.
The brand-new Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 gets a significant discount at Best Buy this week. Normally $830, the tablet is $150 off for the next two days (or until it sells out), so you can grab it for $680 ahead of the holidays. It’s a 2-in-1 device that can be used laptop-style with a clip-on keyboard, though unfortunately the keyboard is sold separately. It also comes with DeX mode, which allows you to throw your screen up on a monitor or TV. If you have access to Xbox cloud gaming (available free with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate), you’ll be able to stream games on this tablet as well using a paired controller. Check out our sister site CNET’s great breakdown of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 for more details.
A good soundbar will give you a much richer audio experience when watching movies or playing games. This Samsung soundbar offers 2.1 channel surround sound and can connect to your TV via Bluetooth for a wireless experience. It also comes with a wireless subwoofer and a remote to control the power, volume, sound effects, and more.
One of our favorite arcade cabinets has gotten a major discount at Best Buy this week. For $3000, you can get the Arcade1Up Golden Tee cabinet, which comes with four classic games: Golden Tee Classic, Golden Tee 2K, Golden Tee ’99, and Golden Tee ’98. It also features a 17-inch high-res LCD screen and a riser to make standing play more comfortable.
Corsair’s HS60 Pro wired gaming headset is down to $50 from its usual $70 and delivers 7.1 surround sound for immersive gaming, a detachable microphone that filters out ambient noise, and adjustable memory foam ear cups.
CHICAGO (AP) — United Airlines has struck a deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to offer satellite-based Starlink WiFi service on flights within the next several years.
The airline said Friday the service will be free to passengers.
United said it will begin testing the service early next year and begin offering it on some flights by later in 2025.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The announcement comes as airlines rush to offer more amenities as a way to stand out when passengers pick a carrier for a trip. United’s goal is to make sitting on a plane pretty much like being on the ground when it comes to browsing the internet, streaming entertainment and playing games.
“Everything you can do on the ground, you’ll soon be able to do on board a United plane at 35,000 feet, just about anywhere in the world,” CEO Scott Kirby said in announcing the deal.
The airline says Starlink will allow passengers to get internet access even over oceans and polar regions where traditional cell or Wi-Fi signals may be weak or missing.
