Hiding to avoid animatronics is a core game feature in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach. As with previous entries, the protagonist —this time taking the form of a small child named Gregory— is forced to avoid the animatronics for survival. To this end, the player is forced to either sneak around or hide in various objects scattered around the massive pizzaplex in FNAF: Security Breach.
Understanding these two mechanics is pretty crucial for completing FNAH: Security Breach, so below is a brief overview of how to sneak and where to hide while traveling through the massive establishment. The details may change based on which section the player happens to be in, but there are some general rules all players should follow.
The first thing FNAF: Security Breach players should become acquainted with is the sneak meter. Despite its name, the sneak meter is a rough outline of Gregory that can be seen toward the bottom of the screen. The color of that outline changes based on the player’s detection level from other animatronics. Blue means the player is undetected, yellow means the other animatronics are searching, and red means the player has been found.
Hiding Tips For FNAF: Security Breach
The means for avoiding detection in FNAF: Security Breach is fairly simple: don’t enter the line of sight of animatronics. For the main animatronics, like Chica and Roxy, this means the player should avoid running in front of them or making any obvious noise near them. But for the less advanced S.T.A.F.F robots, all the player has to do is not bump into them or the areas brightened by their flashlight. The S.T.A.F.F bots are not as advanced as the main animatronics, so they should be fairly easy to avoid if the player understands their stagnant patrol path.
It should also be noted that S.T.A.F.F bots in FNAF: Security Breach can only give off a shrill alarm upon encountering Gregory instead of triggering a death scene. This means if the player is willing to risk it, they can technically trigger as many alarms as they like if they feel like the main animatronics are far enough away. But let’s say the player gained the attention of an animatronic anyway by mistake and the stealth meter is now bright red. Well, aside from running to a distant location, the next best thing players can do is hide.
With Gregory’s small size, there are several objects in the pizzaplex that players can hide in. This includes lockers, strollers, laundry carts, and so on. When the player is close to a valid hiding location, a prompt to enter it should appear at the bottom of the screen. If the animatronic is far enough away, players can enter these hiding spots and wait long enough for the stealth meter to go back down to yellow or blue. But be warned, the animatronics are not entirely oblivious. If they see Gregory enter a hiding spot, the odds are they will walk right on over, open the hiding spot, and capture Gregory on the spot.
The player’s final option for a hiding spot in FNAF: Security Breach is presented in one of the game’s opening scenes. Go to or summon Gregory’s greatest ally, Freddy. Freddy will always allow Gregory to crawl into his chest cavity, which will shield Gregory from attracting the attention of any nearby animatronics or S.T.A.F.F bots. Even when the animatronic was nearby when Gregory decided to enter Freddy. The only animatronic players still need to be wary of is Moondrop, as he will still detect Gregory and potentially capture him even when he is still inside Freddy.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
