After a long wait, OnePlus has finally revealed the launch date of its upcoming new phone, the 10T which is set to be out on August 3.
While the OnePlus 10T is not due until next month, the smartphone’s features are surely building up a hype amongst fans. The smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and will come in two sleek colour variants.
However, the smartphone is missing the OnePlus’ one key feature, the alert-slider button. While the OnePlus 10T looks almost similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro, it won’t be sporting the alert-slider button along with the Hasselblad branded-camera system.
The alert-slider bar has been a constant with OnePlus flagships. The convenient button, located on the side of the smartphone, offers a quick and easy way to put the smartphone on silent or vibrate mode. So why is OnePlus saying goodbye to the button?
Well, OnePlus chief designer Hope Liu went in on important details of the upcoming OnePlus 10T as he explained why the company had to skip the button.

Liu informed that OnePlus needed to ditch the alert-slider button in order to make more room internally for other necessary components
“While the Alert Slider appears to be a very small component, it actually has a relatively large impact on the device’s motherboard area – taking up 30 mm2,” OnePlus chief designer Hope Liu said in a blog post.
In order to upgrade user experience and add extra elements, OnePlus had to compromise on the alert-slider button.
“To ensure the OnePlus 10T delivers in the areas we know our users value most – with super-fast charging, a large battery capacity, and a better antenna signal while retaining the Alert Slider, we would have had to stack the device’s motherboard, which would have made the device thicker,” he added.
A lot of thought was put behind the design of the OnePlus 10T, which took a year to finish. During that period, the tech company went through hundreds of prototypes before finalising the two colours – Moonstone Black and Jade Green.
The OnePlus 10T is equipped with super-fast charging that requires the device to have two charging pumps.
OnePlus revealed that without increasing the thickness of the device, the maximum battery capacity they could have put inside the OnePlus 10T while keeping the alert-slider would have been 4,500 mAh.
So to increase the battery capacity of the device, OnePlus removed the OnePlus 10T’s alert-slider and made other optimisations to offer users a higher capacity. The OnePlus 10T comes with an improved antenna for gaming that delivers better signal strength even when the device is in horizontal position.
Adding this new antenna system – comprising 15 separate antennas around the device’s body – was also made possible through the removal of the device’s alert-slider, along with other optimisations, Liu informed.
CHICAGO (AP) — United Airlines has struck a deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to offer satellite-based Starlink WiFi service on flights within the next several years.
The airline said Friday the service will be free to passengers.
United said it will begin testing the service early next year and begin offering it on some flights by later in 2025.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
