Male arrested after raiding fridge

A Cambridge male faces charges after someone raided the lunchroom fridge Monday at a Guelph business.

Approximately 10 a.m. police were called to a business on Watson Road South near York Road. Staff reported an unknown male entered through an open overhead door and went to the lunchroom, where he helped himself to various items in the fridge.

A male matching the description was located sitting on the lawn of another nearby business and was arrested under the Trespass to Property Act after refusing to identify himself and providing a fake name and date of birth. A search incident to arrest revealed documents stolen earlier this month from an address in Cambridge, as well as a passport in the male’s true name.

A 44-year-old Cambridge male is charged with obstructing police and possessing stolen property. He will appear in a Guelph court December 17, 2021.

Minor injuries after pedestrian struck

An adult female sustained minor injuries after being hit by a motor vehicle Monday morning.

Approximately 9:05 a.m. the Guelph Police Service was called to the intersection of York Road and Victoria Road South. A motor vehicle was turning when it collided with the pedestrian, who was thrown onto the hood of the vehicle then fell to the ground. She sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

A 69-year-old Rockwood female is charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian under the Highway Traffic Act.

Male returns to scene of crime, arrested again

A Guelph male was arrested Monday just a few days after returning to the scene of an earlier arrest.

On August 25, the male was arrested after causing damage to a church in the downtown core. He was charged with mischief and breaching probation and released on an undertaking with a condition that he not attend that address.

Shortly after 7 a.m. Monday police were notified the male was back on the property. Officers located him sitting on the front steps and arrested him for failing to comply with an undertaking. A 24-year-old Guelph male will appear in a Guelph court December 14, 2021.
