Quebec reports 216 new cases, one more death
Quebec reported 216 new COVID-19 cases Monday, the highest single-day jump since the province reported 225 new cases on June 7.
It was the second day in a row the province has reported more than 200 new cases, having added 205 cases on Sunday. The government also confirmed one more death that occurred last week.
The new cases bring Quebec’s seven-day running average for new cases to 174.
When discussing a possible second wave two weeks ago, health minister Christian Dubé had said the government didn’t want to see the average go above 160 cases per day, or 20 per million people.
In a tweet on Sunday, Dubé said the increase is likely due to “important” community transmission and urged Quebecers to respect the measures in place.
