A string of lights over Huron County last night has people talking.

No, it’s not an alien invasion. The Starlink satellites that bring internet to rural and remote areas are visible at times and appear as a string of lights usually near the horizon.

People took to Facebook last night describing seeing the lights over Monkton, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Guelph as well as other parts of Huron County.

Thursday afternoon at 1.51 p.m., Space X, the company owned by tech mogul Elon Musk, launched another 53 Starlink satellites aboard its Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida.

The lights will be visible again tonight.

According to findstarlink.com the lights will be visible over the Wingham area to the west-southwest around 9:49 p.m.

You can visit the site to find the best time to see them in your area. You can also download an app created by the website’s developers so you’ll always know when there’s a chance to catch a glimpse of the satellites.
