The embargo for a press event for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has lifted, and lengthy impressions are coming in from a number of outlets. Many of the common concerns about combat and story are brought up, and though the limited look at the game was not its full scope, it was what Rocksteady decided to show off. And there are some…issues.
Here’s IGN: “Unfortunately for Suicide Squad, once the fun story bits end, you’re left with a much less inspired combat system, and an open world that’s filled with tedious tasks.”
Here’s Gamespot: “These events and battles felt a bit generic, especially in comparison to Suicide Squad’s main story moments that are more akin to what Arkham fans are used to seeing. Though each mission had different objectives, they all had the same basic gist of battling waves of enemies while swinging back and forth between rooftops.”

But in contrast, here’s the mostly positive Game Informer preview: “Emerging from my hands-on session, I feel much more confident in Rocksteady’s long-awaited follow-up to its critically acclaimed Arkham series, but I still have several questions. But even with those hesitations surrounding post-launch support, game structure, and monetization efforts, I now have February 2 circled on my calendar, as my overwhelming curiosity and anxiety have turned mostly to anticipation.”
The negative previews do have some positive elements listed in them, but the positive previews often raise “questions” that are likely not going to be answered until the full game is out. This contrasts a bit with what I’ve heard from the NDA-breaking alpha players who have said they liked the game a lot more than they thought they would, even in some cases inspiring them to preorder.
The most common point of pushback is that Suicide Squad may in fact feel like it’s “trend-chasing” when it comes to the co-op live service aspects, which was a common thought when the concept was revealed. And in previews, that seems to be coming across as well. Here’s Eurogamer:
“It’s clear Rocksteady is keen to try something new with Suicide Squad while remaining tied to the studio’s past, but as an online shooter with live service elements it’s perhaps trend-chasing more than sticking to what the studio does best.”
Generally speaking, I’m seeing more negative than positive as I sift through most of these previews, but it’s always possible this is a case of critic and fan disconnect in the end, so it’s definitely too soon to write off the game. But without a public beta before launch, which does not seem to be happening, non-alpha-playing fans don’t have much to go on except these previews, which are generally speaking, not exactly glowing. We’ll see what the final product looks like at launch.
CHICAGO (AP) — United Airlines has struck a deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to offer satellite-based Starlink WiFi service on flights within the next several years.
The airline said Friday the service will be free to passengers.
United said it will begin testing the service early next year and begin offering it on some flights by later in 2025.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The announcement comes as airlines rush to offer more amenities as a way to stand out when passengers pick a carrier for a trip. United’s goal is to make sitting on a plane pretty much like being on the ground when it comes to browsing the internet, streaming entertainment and playing games.
“Everything you can do on the ground, you’ll soon be able to do on board a United plane at 35,000 feet, just about anywhere in the world,” CEO Scott Kirby said in announcing the deal.
The airline says Starlink will allow passengers to get internet access even over oceans and polar regions where traditional cell or Wi-Fi signals may be weak or missing.
