Fortnite servers are still down this morning for some unspecified reason after last night’s Big Bang event. Epic doesn’t seem to have been able to handle the giant influx of returning players this time around and as such, some technical hiccups are happening (Update: It’s up now). However, we are able to get a look at the new map for Chapter 5, which has now been fully revealed after the events that spawned Fortnite’s metaverse last night.
This is the full version of the Chapter 5 map which you can see below, a usual mix of biomes, but obviously with one being a bit dominant over the others:
Interestingly this is not the map that was reportedly leaked ahead of the event, one that looked a lot more like the season 2 map from the game which this one certainly does not. This is a wholly new creation, one currently enveloped mostly by snow, but as with all weather-shifting Fortnite maps, that will no doubt get increased then reduced over time as we make it through winter in the Northern Hemisphere here.

And there are of course a slew of large and small cities and towns to run around in. But a main feature this time is definitely going to be the train, which you can see looping around the entire map, through the mountains, forests and badlands type areas.
There seems to be some debate about if the map is bigger or small than a normal Fortnite map. Bigger would have more stuff, but smaller would make for more heated combat and compressed gameplay. But until everyone explores it for a while we’re probably just not going to know.
This is the map we’ll likely stick with for all of this Chapter, which is what usually happens, however, Epic has already promised that OG mode with the OG map will return at some point in 2024, though I doubt in that reprised instance it would replace the new Chapter 5 map here that’s already been revealed. Epic knows they caught lightning in a bottle with the return to OG, and though they may not be able to do it to the same extent again, they’re certainly going to try.
By the time I finished writing this article, Epic kicked the servers back online, so go out there and see for yourself, once you can get past any queues that is.
CHICAGO (AP) — United Airlines has struck a deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to offer satellite-based Starlink WiFi service on flights within the next several years.
The airline said Friday the service will be free to passengers.
United said it will begin testing the service early next year and begin offering it on some flights by later in 2025.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The announcement comes as airlines rush to offer more amenities as a way to stand out when passengers pick a carrier for a trip. United’s goal is to make sitting on a plane pretty much like being on the ground when it comes to browsing the internet, streaming entertainment and playing games.
“Everything you can do on the ground, you’ll soon be able to do on board a United plane at 35,000 feet, just about anywhere in the world,” CEO Scott Kirby said in announcing the deal.
The airline says Starlink will allow passengers to get internet access even over oceans and polar regions where traditional cell or Wi-Fi signals may be weak or missing.
