An investment in a Windsor-based company that is now producing Canada’s supply of Pine-Sol has created more jobs than originally anticipated.
Last year, the provincial government announced an $850,000 investment in Dimachem Inc. to scale up production to manufacture 10-million bottles of the product for Clorox Canada.
The Federal Economy Development Agency also invested $1-million in the $5 million expansion of the facility.
“The Government of Canada is making smart investments to ensure that Canadian manufacturers have the support they need to produce made-in-Canada solutions and seize new opportunities for economic growth. Today’s investment in Dimachem Inc will create jobs, drive economic growth and protect Canadian manufacturing and supply chains,” said Minister for Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario Helena Jaczek.
Vice President of Dimachem Andrew Conway said as a small company, they could not have completed this expansion without the government support.
“That support has allowed us to buy state-of-the-art blow modeling equipment, state-of-the-art filling, capping, labeling, day coding, packaging, robotic palletizing equipment and that has then driven the hiring which has exceeded the original 14 estimate,” said Conway.
The company has been able to hire 27 people in total and expects to start a third shift in the near future.
“Right now we’ve got a significant contract with Clorox and we’re in a wonderful position with them where they want more production from us. So we’re working very diligently as a team to get our production rates up because right now we can fill this line with Clorox business,” said Conway.
