Miyamoto says he’s ‘no longer concerned’ for Nintendo after his departure – videogameschronicle.com

Nintendo” href=”https://www.videogameschronicle.com/platforms/nintendo/”>Nintendo director Shigeru Miyamoto” href=”https://www.videogameschronicle.com/people/shigeru-miyamoto/”>Shigeru Miyamoto has said he’s no longer concerned about passing down his legacy to the company’s younger creators, and suggested he’d like to spend his remaining years there focusing on new experiences.

Speaking in a wide-ranging interview with The New Yorker, the Super Mario designer said that following roughly a decade of transition, he feels that Nintendo’s younger generation is able to independently uphold the company’s principles.

At 68, Miyamoto is now in retirement age. But in a 2019 interview he insisted he was not considering ending his career in the near future.

Miyamoto is best known as the creator of some of Nintendo’s best-selling game franchises, including Super Mario, Donkey Kong,  The Legend of Zelda (Series)” href=”https://www.videogameschronicle.com/games/the-legend-of-zelda-series/”>Legend of Zelda, F-Zero, Pikmin and Star Fox.

He told The New Yorker: “In terms of Nintendo’s business, the core idea is to create a harmony between hardware and software. It’s taken about ten years, but I feel that the younger generation here is now fully able to uphold that foundational principle.

“For my part, I want to continue to pursue my interests. Nintendo has expanded into new areas of design, such as the theme park I’ve been working on. When you think about it, theme-park design is similar to video-game design, though it’s fully focussed on the hardware side.

“In one sense, I’m an amateur again. But as these rides become more interactive, that’s where our expertise will be put to good use. This mixing of our experience with new contexts might be one of the most interesting endeavors for my remaining years.”

With younger directors now in charge at Nintendo, Miyamoto told The New Yorker he believed that the company was moving toward a position that will ensure the spirit of Nintendo is passed down successfully.

“We are moving toward a position that will ensure the spirit of Nintendo is passed down successfully. I am not concerned about that anymore.”

As the company has gained new competitors over the years, it’s given us an opportunity to think deeply about what makes Nintendo Nintendo,” he explained.

“[President] Shuntaro Furukawa” href=”https://www.videogameschronicle.com/people/shuntaro-furukawa/”>Shuntaro Furukawa is currently in his forties, and [general manager] Shinya Takahashi is in his fifties; we are moving toward a position that will ensure the spirit of Nintendo is passed down successfully. I am not concerned about that anymore.

“Now I’m focussing on the need to continue to find new experiences. This has always been what interested and excited me about the medium: not perfecting the old but discovering the new.”

Miyamoto said he’s recently been excited to work on elements of the Super Nintendo World theme park attraction, as well as mobile games.

This mixing of his game experience with new contexts “might be one of the most interesting endeavours for my remaining years,” he said.

“It’s not the environment that makes me want to go [into the office every week] so much as the fact that, over the weekend, I still spend a great deal of time thinking about games.

“By Monday, I’m usually excited to get back to work. To that end, I sometimes send e-mails over the weekend, which people don’t appreciate.”

Asked which projects most recently made him feel excited, Miyamoto replied: “Recently, I’ve been very involved with Universal Studios in Osaka, planning the attractions that are going to be there and putting the final touches on the rides.

“I’ve also been involved with making mobile games. Since I’m able to test and play these games easily at home, on the weekend, by Monday, I usually have a long list of things I want to try out and explore.”

The three mentioned are very familiar to us; the most familiar now is the electronic immobilizers because recently, the Government has just made them mandatory in Canada. These three categories of anti-theft devices can be broken down again into two categories:

Active devices – devices that require you to turn them on to activate them (mechanical and alarms)

Passive devices – devices that are activated when you turn the engine off (electronic)

It’s the passive devices that Canadian car insurance companies are the better of the two because they don’t rely on us to remember to turn them on; they come on on their own.

Before you start shopping for a Canada car insurance quote:

  1. Take advantage of all the insurance facts, tips, and hints.
  2. In this case, take a couple of minutes and write down the anti-theft devices your car already has.
  3. Write down if you have an engine immobilizer, wheel locks, car etching, anything and everything your car has, and ASK about each of them and see what sort of discounts the insurance company will offer.

DON’T ASSUME that just because engine immobilizers are mandatory, a discount has been applied; make a point of asking.

You can unlock this secret Isu weapon in Assassin's Creed Valhalla just by whacking a pile of rocks – Gamesradar

A canny Assassin’s Creed Valhalla player has discovered you can unlock a powerful Isu bow just by whacking a pile of rocks.

As demonstrated in this video by JorRaptor, players should head up to Northumbria and visit Brunson Turret. In the nearby lake, you’ll find a small island – and here’s when the magic happens.

I can’t even begin to understand how someone might have accidentally stumbled upon this, but if you whack the rock a few times – noting that, unlike other piles of ore, it doesn’t break up – quick save, and log out, eventually you’ll respawn in front of a broken pile of rocks and then see the secret Nodens’ Arc bow unlock, popping up as a newly acquired item on your screen (thanks, Kotaku).

Right now it’s presumed this is either a bug or, in the very least, a cheese, so it’s possible Ubisoft might move quickly to prevent more players gaining the powerful weapon so easily, so head up to Northumbria sooner rather than later if you fancy grabbing the bow yourself. 

ICYMI, Assassin’s Creed fans have finally translated the secret Isu language. Used by the first civilisation in the Assassin’s Creed series, clever fans have now deciphered what the god-like figures known as the Ancient Ones throughout the Assassin’s Creed series are saying.

From verbs to adjectives and numbers, Access the Animus comprehensively explains how to translate the Isu language, which has its own “complex grammar, alphabet, and a set of rules of its own”. They were even able to work out verb tenses, conjugated words, grammar cases, and sentence structures.

Speedrunners Are Beating Hitman 3's Dubai Level In Under 10 Seconds – Kotaku

Hitman 3’s opening level, set in a large tower in Dubai, is made up of various floors, rooms, and security measures. It’s a tricky stage for many players. But if you are quick, have a steady hand, and some luck, you can beat the whole thing in about nine seconds.

As spotted by PCGamesN, some Hitman speedrunners have already figured out a super fast way to take out both targets in the opening level.

How do you do it? Well, quickly run up the stairs after spawning into the level, shoot one target on the balcony above then turn to shoot the other target, who is perched above that target on an even higher balcony. Then turn around and book it to the exit which is only a few feet away from the stairs. If you pull this off fast enough, you can beat the whole level in nine seconds.

According to Speedrun.com, speedrunners Wreak and Der_Lauch_Linus are tied, both completing the level in just nine seconds. Below is Wreak’s run.

And if you are wondering, the speedrun time for completing this level while obtaining the silent assassin rank is a bit longer. A whole eight seconds longer.

Currently, GuLe holds the world record in that category, using a technique that is similar to the above runs, but with a sniper. By shooting around the level using a silenced rifle, they distract guards and NPCs, giving them a window to take out the targets before the bodies are spotted.

Meanwhile, I finally beat my first Hitman 3 level using only a suit and sniper rifle. It took me like 20 minutes. And I save scummed a bit. No world record for me.
