Male arrested for waving knife at traffic
A Guelph male faces a weapons charge after reports of a male waving a large knife at passing traffic Wednesday evening.
Approximately 6:20 p.m. the Guelph Police Service was called to an address on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue West. Officers checked the area and located a male matching the description provided by witnesses.
The male was detained and a search of his person revealed a knife with a 15-centimetre blade in his pocket and a slightly smaller knife inside his jacket. Further investigation revealed the male was bound by a release order with a condition not to possess any weapons.
A 43-year-old Guelph male is charged with possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with a judicial release order. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
Gas drive-off in stolen truck
The Guelph Police Service is investigating a gas drive-off Wednesday afternoon involving a stolen motor vehicle.
Approximately 3:20 p.m., staff of a south-end gas station called police to report the theft. A male pumped more than $118 into a pickup truck before quickly driving away. Investigation revealed the black Ford pickup had been stolen from another jurisdiction.
The male was described as white with dark, wavy shoulder-length hair, wearing a dark sweater, blue jeans and a surgical mask.

Attempt break and enter
The Guelph Police Service is investigating after an attempted break and enter at a home close to the downtown core.
On Wednesday, officers attended a residence in the area of Grange Street and Stuart Street. The homeowner advised she discovered damage to the side door of the garage on Sunday afternoon, believing it had occurred overnight from Saturday into Sunday.
Damage to the door and frame appeared consistent with someone trying to kick it open. No entry was gained but it cost more than $200 to repair the damage.
