“Jeannie Catchpole has had a long career that started as a commercial artist and created editions of prints that were very popular,” said Dennis O’Connor of the gallery. “The two prints offered for the food bank are two of her most popular. The first is a Christmas theme called Holiday Home, and the second one is called Garden Party, featuring stuffed animals having tea.”
The prints are high quality, valued at $300 a piece or three for $10 with an added value of $350 each for archival framing.
The food bank is selling the raffle tickets at $5 or three for $10.
“Monies raised will be used to purchase the makings for the holiday season hampers,” said Barb Jenkins of The Gananoque and Area Food Bank. “We will be distributing 120 hampers this year. With the rising costs of groceries, we appreciate the donations we can generate through the raffle and hope to raise $2-3 thousand.”
Catchpole now works in collaboration with her husband Steve Behal as a team called BECA.
“Together they create incredible paintings and they also work individually,” said O’Connor. “Their quest is to create art based on emotion, colour, balance and passion, from realism to an exploration of the contemporary esthetic. Catchpole is thrilled to donate these prints for the benefit of The Gananoque and Area Food Bank, and O’Connor Gallery was equally happy to frame the pieces archivally.”
The prints are on display at the food bank, located at 497 King St., East beside the Bravo Restaurant. Currently, tickets can be purchased at The Gananoque and Area Food Bank during its open hours between 12:30 and 2:45 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays. They are also available by calling Jenkins at 613-583-2077.
“Tickets are on sale from now until November 30 for the draw on December 1,” said Jenkins. “This leaves enough time to use either as a gift. ‘Holiday Home’ would go well anywhere in your home, while ‘Garden Party’ would be adorable in a nursery.”
The Gananoque and Area Food Bank is also looking for other local retailers to help with ticket sales between November 15 and 30. If interested, contact Jenkins.
