An Air Canada flight intended to land in Vancouver on Sunday morning was forced to turn around and return to San Francisco.
CTV News Vancouver reports emergency crews inspected the aircraft upon safe landing, but did not find any fire.
A spokesperson for Jazz Aviation, which operated the AC8839 flight on behalf of Air Canada, says the flight crew received “a rear lavatory smoke detector indication.”
“The flight returned to San Francisco and the crew requested priority landing as per standard operating procedures.”
A total of 74 passengers and four crew members were aboard the Bombardier CRJ-900 plane.
Shortly after landing, another aircraft and crew were sent to resume the flight.
Jazz Aviation apologized to customers for the inconvenience.
