Fans of Neil Young and Crazy Horse at the upcoming Ottawa Bluesfest are in for some disappointing news. The legendary group has been forced to cancel their July 11th headline performance due to illness.
The news comes straight from the band’s website, where they announced a halt to their entire tour after several members fell sick following a recent show at Detroit’s Pine Knob.
“When a couple of us got sick after Detroit’s Pine Knob, we had to stop,” the statement reads. “We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break.”
While this is a blow for fans who were eagerly anticipating Young’s performance, the Bluesfest team is working tirelessly to ensure the show goes on. The Offspring, known for their high-energy punk rock anthems, will now take the RBC Stage as the July 11th headliner. Joining them will be Canadian rock outfit Silverstein and fellow Canadian punk veterans Cancer Bats, promising a night of electrifying music.
For those who purchased single-day tickets specifically for July 11th or a Pick 3 pass that included that date, Bluesfest is offering full refunds. However, time is of the essence – ticketholders have until July 2nd at 11:59 pm to request their refund through a link that will be sent via email. Those who don’t take action by the deadline will see their tickets remain valid for the July 11th show with The Offspring.
This setback comes amidst the excitement of Bluesfest’s 30th anniversary celebration. The festival boasts a star-studded lineup this year, featuring headliners like Nickelback, Maroon 5, 50 Cent, Mötley Crüe, Mother Mother, Zac Brown Band, Tyler Childers, and Nas. Music lovers will be treated to an extra day of festivities this year as well, with Jelly Roll and Shaboozey gracing the stage.
Despite the Neil Young cancellation, the Ottawa Bluesfest is shaping up to be an unforgettable event, running from July 4th to 14th.
