“It’s about education. If you see someone doing something, or large groups, break the group up,” Ontario Premier Doug Ford said during his daily media conference. “Vast majority — 98 per cent — of all these young folks are following protocols, procedures, and a couple per cent are going a little hog wild.
“Guys, you’ve got to rein it in, simple as that. Because you may get through it, but maybe your grandparents won’t get through it.”
Ottawa Public Health is several indicators that would guide any decision about if or when to roll back the local reopening, Moloughney said.
Case numbers are important, but so are hospital capacity, the situation in long-term care homes and other institutional settings, availability of personal protective equipment, testing capacity, the rate of positive tests results and other indicators of ability to control and respond to any surge in COVID-19 transmission, he said when asked to outline what would it would take to reintroduce restrictions to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“Ottawa Public Health will continue to monitor the situation closely.”
