Lotto Max Jackpot up to $70M for Tuesday's draw

By the end of the day someone in Saskatoon could be $70 million richer.

Tuesday’s Lotto Max Jackpot currently sits at a record $70 million plus 25 other $1 million draws.

That means good business for Youwu Chen at the Pelican Market on Lorne Avenue.

“On average we see about $3,000 in sales for lottery tickets, but last week we saw $3,000 in one day,” Chen said. “We have the highest record in our store.”

According to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, the chances of winning the jackpot are 1 in 29 million. If no winner is drawn the jackpot carries over to Friday’s draw.

Those odds aren’t deterring people, including Chen, from ponying up a few dollars for a chance at $70 million.

“Maybe I’ll buy a house or travel the world,” Chen said. “Maybe I’ll move to B.C.”

According to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, the chances of winning the jackpot are 1 in 29 million. If no winner is drawn the jackpot carries over to Friday’s draw.

The corporation said from every dollar spent on lotteries, about one-third is returned to the WCLC’s member corporations and helps fund community programs, facilities, sport and art and culture programs.
