A Saskatoon family wants answers after a man was hit by a vehicle and seriously hurt this weekend.
Greg Semchuk was at a party Saturday night when he crossed the street to get to his car on Kerr Road, in the Arbor Creek neighbourhood.
He was hit by a vehicle which apparently drove off. He was found lying in the street by another group of people, who called 911.
Semchuk’s skull was fractured and he can’t remember anything about what happened that night
While police are investigating, his family has taken to social media to try to find the person responsible.
“I think the person responsible is probably living in hell right now,” said Semchuk’s mother, Jackie Tennent.
“If they’re worthy, they’ll have a great deal of guilt.”
The family said there doesn’t appear to have been any witnesses, making the social media campaign even more important.
As of Wednesday, the post had been shared more than 350 times.
“I was hugely surprised by the influence of Facebook and social media,” Tennent said.
“All these people. I don’t even know any of them and they’re saying, ‘Get well, Greg. Praying for a speedy recovery for you.’ It’s mind blowing.”
Saskatoon police said the investigation is still in its early stages and no arrests have been made.
Tennent said her son will need major reconstructive surgery to his foot and received major scrapes to his body.
“Maybe there was extenuating circumstances like maybe alcohol was involved, but why would you leave somebody lying there in their own blood?” she asked.
“You should be brave enough to at least make an anonymous call.”
Right now, Tennent is focused on her son’s recovery and getting more information.
“I keep getting that picture in my mind of my son laying on the on the concrete waiting for somebody to come and help him. It’s really hard, you know?”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Saskatoon police or Crime Stoppers.
