Organized by Agnes Etherington Art Centre at Queen’s University, Soundings: An Exhibition is a travelling exhibition featuring newly commissioned scores, performances, videos, sculptures and sound. Through these new works, Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists address the question: How can a score be a call and tool for decolonization? Unfolding in a sequence of five parts, the scores take the form of beadwork, videos, objects, graphic notation, historical belongings and written instructions. During the exhibition, these scores are activated at specific moments by musicians, dancers, performers and members of the public, gradually filling the gallery and surrounding public spaces with sound and action. For this iteration on Musqueam territory, the Belkin has collaborated with UBC’s Musqueam Language and Culture Department, School of Music, First Nations House of Learning and Museum of Anthropology to support the production of new artworks and performances by local artists.

Audain Art Museum
With this exhibit, visitors to the Audain can witness the international arc of photography from the 19th century to the present. An overview of the medium’s social, economic, scientific and cultural impact on the world, Extended Moment includes European daguerreotype portraits, figurative azo dye prints from Asia and experimental digital imagery by leading American and Canadian artists. Notable photographers featured in this display of over 80 works include Diane Arbus, Edward Burtynsky, Stan Douglas, Walker Evans, Man Ray and more. The exhibition is part of the 2020 Capture Photography Festival selected exhibition program and is organized by the Scotiabank Photography Program at the National Gallery of Canada.
