
Ontario has once again broken a record for daily COVID-19 cases, with 1,925 reported on Monday.
This is the third day in a row the numbers have topped the previous record-setting day. On Sunday the province reported 1,924 new cases, while Saturday’s count came in at 1,859.
Toronto leads the way with 601 new infections, followed by Peel Region with 512 and York Region with 167.

Twenty-six more people have died, bringing the death toll to 3,798. Most of those deaths (2,391) were people living in long-term care. Long-term care homes continue to deal with the devastating effects of the virus on vulnerable elderly people, with 113 homes currently in the midst of outbreaks.
Schools continue to see new infections as well, with the province reporting 138 new school-related cases on Monday. A total of 803 schools across the province now have a reported case.
The province says it completed nearly 45,300 tests in the previous day, with a backlog of 31,238.
There are now 213 patients in Intensive Care Units, with 121 on ventilators.
Meanwhile, Premier Doug Ford is expected to provide an update on Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccine plans later this afternoon.
Ford will be holding a conference with General Rick Hillier, chair of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution task force.
