Achieving the body that you want can be challenging but that’s only the beginning, maintaining it is a different story. The key is to efficiently transition into having a healthier overall lifestyle. It’s not just a one-time goal, but a continuous commitment between you and your body.
What’s The Secret?
Honestly, there is no secret! No such thing as a magical formula that’ll make you instantly lose weight or drastically make you stronger. Remember, that every BODY is unique. A healthy lifestyle is not a one-size-fits-all. What works for your friend may not work for you, and that is beautiful. Read on to learn the steps you can take, and the tips to help you discover how to achieve a body you’ve always wanted. Keep an open mind and enjoy the process!
6 Steps To Building A Body You Love
1. Just Keep Moving
Start small, start simple. Incorporating fitness into your lifestyle doesn’t need to be intimidating. You can start by simply moving more. We live in a world where ‘smart technology’ has been developed to do the dirty work for us. Our smartphones can literally control everything in the house, turning the lights & appliances on and off, lock doors, etc. So try to not depend on it too much. Go ahead, stand up and walk to the light switch! If you live or work on a relatively low floor, ditch the elevator and take the stairs. Heck, dance around to your favorite tunes while doing mundane household chores! While you’re at it, maybe even help mother nature out by choosing to either walk or bike to where you need to go instead of taking a car or a cab. Normalize moving again.
2. Get To Know Your Own Body
Don’t be afraid to try out new and different exercises and workouts. By doing this, not only is it way less boring, but it’ll help you discover all the things that your amazing body is capable of. In the process, you’ll find one or two (or even more) things that you will genuinely fall in love with. A great workout doesn’t always feel like a workout! Try out dance classes, or maybe even pole dancing and aerial arts, check out wall climbing, roller skating, or try out a new sport! All these have one thing in common, they’re not necessarily focused on fitness per se, but they definitely are intense workouts. You’ll be so busy learning a new skill or enjoying the dance to even realize you’re working out!
3. Find Healthy Food You Actually Like
Just like workouts, different diets work for different people. While your vegan friend might seem like he’s got it all figured out, you might not enjoy the same things. And one of the worst things you can do to yourself is to deprive yourself of food you enjoy for the sake of getting fitter. Gone are the days where good food has to be boring. Another trick is to cook your own fresh food. It’s always better when you are in control of what goes into your food. The internet has unlimited recipes for tasty healthy food and it doesn’t even have to cost much.
4. Portions And Moderation
As with anything, too much is never good. Even when you’ve found healthy food you love, it doesn’t mean you can have 6 servings of it! Portion control and moderation are the keys to a good diet, whatever type of diet it may be. Be reminded that your body won’t immediately feel full, pace yourself and let the food you eat sink in.
5. Do It With Friends, Family, Or Your Partner
It’s always more fun going on a journey with some company. Invite your partner or family to try out the good food you’ve discovered, cook a healthy meal together. When trying out a new class, either invite a friend or meet new ones in class! When you become part of a community, it makes it more enjoyable and helps boost your confidence!
6. Give Yourself Credit
No matter how high your goals are, don’t forget to enjoy the journey of getting there. Pat yourself on the back for those 10 extra seconds you held that plank for, rejoice for being able to go a day without junk food or soda, do a silly happy victory dance for lifting your leg 5 inches higher today. You did that. Small progress is still progress. Celebrate small wins!

Appreciate Your Body
More often than not, the desire to get fit or to look a certain way comes from some sort of pressure from society or the media. Wanting to have a healthier lifestyle should not be because you hate your body, but because you love your body. You love your body so much that you want to take good care of it. In your fitness journey, you’ll get to realize that achieving that ideal “perfect body” is a lie and discover that you can unlock the full potential of the incredible body you already have.
