In the US, a ‘metallic object’, which is being suspected to be a meteorite, seems to have crashed through the roof and the ceiling of a home.
The police department of the area have shared details about the incident on Facebook to understand more about the object. The pictures of the metallic oblong-shaped rock, which crashed through the roof of a house in the US, have also been shared with the post on social media.
The police are suspecting it to be a meteorite while the post seems to have also started a chatter among people on social media that the object could be from outer space.
Explaining the situation, the police department of Hopewell Township, New Jersey shared a press release along with the pictures of the metallic oblong-shaped rock on Facebook on May 9.
“Possible Meteorite Strikes House in Hopewell Township. A metallic object believed to be a meteorite struck the roof of a residence located on Old Washington Crossing Pennington Rd. The ranch style home was occupied at the time but there were no injuries reported. The object, which is described as approximately 4″ x 6″ is oblong in shape and appears metallic. It penetrated the roof, the ceiling and then impacted the hardwood floor before coming to a rest,” said a part of the press release.
The department is also making concerted efforts to get in touch with different agencies to “positively” identify the object.
