Gas prices burst through the $2-a-litre barrier in Vernon on Tuesday.
And while some stations are posting prices of 203.9 cents per litre today, the North Okanagan is still home to the cheapest fuel in the province.
Gas is still selling for 184.9 in Enderby and Salmon Arm – the “cheapest” anywhere in B.C., according to the most recent posts on gasbuddy.com.
While several stations in Vernon are pumping the liquid gold for 187.9, Petro-Can, Chevron and Mobil stations have put their prices up to 203.9.
Stations in Kelowna are at 193.9 and 195.9 cents a litre as of midday Wednesday.
Penticton stations are at 199.9 across the board.
Kamloops service stations have the widest spread in their prices, which range from 188.9 cents a litre to a high of 204.9.
Metro Vancouver drivers are filling up for 214.9 to 219.9 cents a litre.
Gasoline prices have spiked as oil tops US$100 a barrel, in part because of supply disruptions related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, industry watchers say.
