Peterborough Public Health is hosting flu vaccine clinics for kids aged 6 months to two years and their household members who don’t have a local primary care provider.
Peterborough clinics will be held November 8th, December 13th and January 10th and can appointments can be booked by calling 705-743-1000 extension 331. Meanwhile, a clinic will also be held November 17th at the Cavan Monaghan Community Centre.
“Flu activity has started in the Peterborough region,” advises Medical Officer of Health Dr. Thomas Piggott, adding “Two facility outbreaks have already been declared and community cases are expected to increase as the weather gets colder and people spend more time indoors.”
Residents are reminded that children ages 6 months to under 5 years old shouldn’t receive any other vaccine, including the flu vaccine, 14 days before or after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.
With the flu vaccine now available to all Ontario residents, those with a health care provider can arrange to be vaccinated there or at a participating pharmacy.
