Hi Matt. I had debilitating muscles spasms in my lower back. This was in my quadratus lumborum muscle. ANY movement would create a painful spasms. I found a video from you regarding movements that would help alleviate back pain. I did the movement for approximately 3 minutes. The pain was completely gone and has not returned. Praise God. I downloaded the video and I still do the movements. Also this movement helps strengthen my bladder muscles. Now I tell people to look at Matt Cook and they can get rid of their own pain. I thank God for the knowledge you’ve obtained and shared.

Hi Matt Cook, I’m so happy I was able to discover your course. The course is indeed wonderful, the very best I have ever come across. I have had severe lower back pain for at least 40 years ,I am now 87 years of age. I have tried various and many courses ,exercises, Yoga, Tai Chi, Back stretchers, acupuncture, chiropractic, the list goes on and on. Thank you for all the research you have distilled into your exercises, for the clear explanations of the thinking behind the course. Most of all thank you because it works for me.

Thanks! I bought your program and I AM SO SO HAPPY I FOUND YOU AND THIS PROGRAM. I am also halfway through your book!

Matt, thank you so much for this course. I have read your conscious movements book, watched your mindset videos, and tried all the lying down movements. It is all so revelatory for me. Thank you so much for your work. I have so many emotions and thoughts built up in my pelvis, lower back, and hips. I have felt movement of both as I’ve worked through the movements.

Good morning, I have started the program and I’m starting to feel much better. It is so simple and effective, thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge.

Thank you for your continuous concern about the wellbeing of people. You are generous in delivering the results of your research. Your system is most precious and much more valuable, in my opinion, than anything I have known. My personal particular situation is a herniated disc between L4 and L5. This happened in october 2019. Weakness, lowered mobility, various compensations have resulted. Your conscious movements are helping me and I will always apply the profound principles revealed in your course. Your own history with the physical amelioration you have experienced gives me much hope and motivation. Thank you again, and keep up the marvelous work.

I just can’t help sending this message. I got your program yesterday. I had been looking for this kind of practice for a very long time, but could not find it. To my surprise your program is far more than I thought. To me, the concept of slow and conscious movements opens a new door in front of me . What I expected was some movements, but I got far more than that. I want to express my gratitude with my whole heart. Thank you so much for sharing your brilliant ideas and great work. I am very confident that the program will change the way I live. Thank you again.

I really love your set of movements. I enjoy doing them and put them as the most important thing in my daily life now. Some of them are difficult, not because of the pain, but because I do not have the good connection between the mind and the location of the body – I am building it. Also the Qi (energy) is weak in the core – so that I have to do it very slowly, then rest a lot. However, that is already very good for me as I see the lights and hopes. I mean I can sense more of my body in detail, and I notice there are differences begin to show a bit at a time.

I bought your course and pretty much it was exactly what I was looking for. I’m using all your techniques with breath, movement, mindset. I’m doing about 1 to 2 hours a day on the total program as I begin to unlock my body’s range of movement. Aside from walking, your movements are the only exercise I find pleasurable. I’m making a ton of progress and love the program.

This is a rarity for me to send an “IT WORKED” e-mail, but I am totally blown away with my results. I subscribed to your program less than a month ago. I had been seeing a chiropractor for months but nothing was really helping until I tried your exercises. I look forward to doing them because I know that I am going to feel 90% better once I have finished the series. THANK YOU so much.

Matt, I got relief after the first exercise and I’m a fan. I have 4 level fusion L4-S1 and constant pain. My core strength is tremendous and protective. I got my core to relax and release my spine for the first time in 13 years. I just wanted you to hear good news from a 65 yr old Marine veteran shaman. Thanks Matt.

Thanks Matt, I like your exercises and my back is getting stronger and less painful. I am deeply grateful for your movements, as they have helped reduce my pain in my upper legs so I can more comfortably walk – first time in my life I have felt no pain so am truly grateful to find you and get your insights.

Thanks, Matt. Yesterday I did it! I was just at the end of my routine when I intuitively started to rotate my pelvis very slowly back and forth. I had my hands on the back extensors to increase the sensation and played around with the tension there. Suddenly there came up a feeling of despair, the urge to scream while not being able to scream. I let it happen and the emotion became very intense. And then it went away and with it a lot of the tension and pain in that area. This is truly magic! And I am so happy that it really works.

I started the program the day I ordered it and am already feeling some differences. I am very impressed and excited to see how I am after a few months. I have severe sciatica and buttock pain from a L4 L5 disc injury and nothing else including drugs did not help for past 3 years Thank you so much for your program and help.

I started Sunday doing the lying down exercises, as you suggested, and I believe I’m feeling a bit better. Your explanations and most of all, seeing you do the exercises is what’s making it doable for me. In the past, every exercise I’ve tried has only brought me more pain. I swore I’d never do another exercise again. For some reason, listening to you right from the get go had me very intrigued. I appreciate your assistance and the program. I have been pretty much home bound for the last 4 years with horrible back pain. I’ve had 2 surgeries and two shots. I think the surgeries made my condition worse and the shots were worthless. Am glad I stuck with it and am happy I ordered the program. Thanks again, Matt, and wishing you all the best.

Hi Matt, I have been using your movements with great successes. I’m blown away. Thanks!

I’m a 50 yo African American man who has been in pain since a childhood injury. I’ve been searching for so long and I’ve had much frustration because traditional methods of exercise and medicine just didn’t work. At my age, I feel like the ease and comfort of your program gives me the comfort, range of motion, and the painless movement I’ve been longing for, for literally decades! I’m so glad I found this program and I greatly thank you for presenting it to the world…it is truly needed. I tried a few exercises and they were amazing. Thank you for the time you put into learning these techniques and developing this system…it’s life changing!

I only started the Back Pain exercises yesterday. I have already felt a reduction in pain and stiffness. So thank you. I look forward to completing the program and further benefits to come.

Canada to donate up to 200,000 vaccine doses to combat mpox outbreaks in Africa

Published

 on

The Canadian government says it will donate up to 200,000 vaccine doses to fight the mpox outbreak in Congo and other African countries.

It says the donated doses of Imvamune will come from Canada’s existing supply and will not affect the country’s preparedness for mpox cases in this country.

Minister of Health Mark Holland says the donation “will help to protect those in the most affected regions of Africa and will help prevent further spread of the virus.”

Dr. Madhukar Pai, Canada research chair in epidemiology and global health, says although the donation is welcome, it is a very small portion of the estimated 10 million vaccine doses needed to control the outbreak.

Vaccine donations from wealthier countries have only recently started arriving in Africa, almost a month after the World Health Organization declared the mpox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern.

A few days after the declaration in August, Global Affairs Canada announced a contribution of $1 million for mpox surveillance, diagnostic tools, research and community awareness in Africa.

On Thursday, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention said mpox is still on the rise and that testing rates are “insufficient” across the continent.

Jason Kindrachuk, Canada research chair in emerging viruses at the University of Manitoba, said donating vaccines, in addition to supporting surveillance and diagnostic tests, is “massively important.”

But Kindrachuk, who has worked on the ground in Congo during the epidemic, also said that the international response to the mpox outbreak is “better late than never (but) better never late.”

“It would have been fantastic for us globally to not be in this position by having provided doses a much, much longer time prior than when we are,” he said, noting that the outbreak of clade I mpox in Congo started in early 2023.

Clade II mpox, endemic in regions of West Africa, came to the world’s attention even earlier — in 2022 — as that strain of virus spread to other countries, including Canada.

Two doses are recommended for mpox vaccination, so the donation may only benefit 100,000 people, Pai said.

Pai questioned whether Canada is contributing enough, as the federal government hasn’t said what percentage of its mpox vaccine stockpile it is donating.

“Small donations are simply not going to help end this crisis. We need to show greater solidarity and support,” he said in an email.

“That is the biggest lesson from the COVID-19 pandemic — our collective safety is tied with that of other nations.”

How many Nova Scotians are on the doctor wait-list? Number hit 160,000 in June

Published

 on

HALIFAX – The Nova Scotia government says it could be months before it reveals how many people are on the wait-list for a family doctor.

The head of the province’s health authority told reporters Wednesday that the government won’t release updated data until the 160,000 people who were on the wait-list in June are contacted to verify whether they still need primary care.

Karen Oldfield said Nova Scotia Health is working on validating the primary care wait-list data before posting new numbers, and that work may take a matter of months. The most recent public wait-list figures are from June 1, when 160,234 people, or about 16 per cent of the population, were on it.

“It’s going to take time to make 160,000 calls,” Oldfield said. “We are not talking weeks, we are talking months.”

The interim CEO and president of Nova Scotia Health said people on the list are being asked where they live, whether they still need a family doctor, and to give an update on their health.

A spokesperson with the province’s Health Department says the government and its health authority are “working hard” to turn the wait-list registry into a useful tool, adding that the data will be shared once it is validated.

Nova Scotia’s NDP are calling on Premier Tim Houston to immediately release statistics on how many people are looking for a family doctor. On Tuesday, the NDP introduced a bill that would require the health minister to make the number public every month.

“It is unacceptable for the list to be more than three months out of date,” NDP Leader Claudia Chender said Tuesday.

Chender said releasing this data regularly is vital so Nova Scotians can track the government’s progress on its main 2021 campaign promise: fixing health care.

The number of people in need of a family doctor has more than doubled between the 2021 summer election campaign and June 2024. Since September 2021 about 300 doctors have been added to the provincial health system, the Health Department said.

“We’ll know if Tim Houston is keeping his 2021 election promise to fix health care when Nova Scotians are attached to primary care,” Chender said.

Newfoundland and Labrador monitoring rise in whooping cough cases: medical officer

Published

 on

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – Newfoundland and Labrador‘s chief medical officer is monitoring the rise of whooping cough infections across the province as cases of the highly contagious disease continue to grow across Canada.

Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says that so far this year, the province has recorded 230 confirmed cases of the vaccine-preventable respiratory tract infection, also known as pertussis.

Late last month, Quebec reported more than 11,000 cases during the same time period, while Ontario counted 470 cases, well above the five-year average of 98. In Quebec, the majority of patients are between the ages of 10 and 14.

Meanwhile, New Brunswick has declared a whooping cough outbreak across the province. A total of 141 cases were reported by last month, exceeding the five-year average of 34.

The disease can lead to severe complications among vulnerable populations including infants, who are at the highest risk of suffering from complications like pneumonia and seizures. Symptoms may start with a runny nose, mild fever and cough, then progress to severe coughing accompanied by a distinctive “whooping” sound during inhalation.

“The public, especially pregnant people and those in close contact with infants, are encouraged to be aware of symptoms related to pertussis and to ensure vaccinations are up to date,” Newfoundland and Labrador’s Health Department said in a statement.

Whooping cough can be treated with antibiotics, but vaccination is the most effective way to control the spread of the disease. As a result, the province has expanded immunization efforts this school year. While booster doses are already offered in Grade 9, the vaccine is now being offered to Grade 8 students as well.

Public health officials say whooping cough is a cyclical disease that increases every two to five or six years.

Meanwhile, New Brunswick’s acting chief medical officer of health expects the current case count to get worse before tapering off.

A rise in whooping cough cases has also been reported in the United States and elsewhere. The Pan American Health Organization issued an alert in July encouraging countries to ramp up their surveillance and vaccination coverage.
