The Pride and Remembrance run has returned to the capital city, with in-person running now permitted.
Saturday, June the 25th, 2022, will be the day when everything goes down with participants expected to run for 5km or walk for 3km at the Church-Wellesley Village.
“As our community emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic we are thrilled to once again host Canada’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community for a family-friendly event that will be held on the final weekend of Toronto’s world-renowned Pride month.
This year’s run is going to be fun. We are planning more entertainment and activities than ever before,” said Alan Belaiche, founder of the Pride and Remembrance Run.
Revellers can expect drag queens, DJs, rainbows, bubble machines and more. Everyone is welcome including children as the run is stroller friendly.
“Last year’s race was our most successful in our event’s 25-year history. In 2022 we are looking to be bigger and better than ever. We are offering an in-person and virtual run to support Ontarians and Canadians in their celebration of Pride,” said Chris Brohman, president of the Pride and Remembrance Run.
The Pride and Remembrance run team has urged participants to bring their most authentic selves as they are celebrating you, and the vibrant diversity within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
In addition, a new group of run ambassadors that represent the diversity of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community shall be revealed at the event.
Some of the notable names set to partake at the event are, Kathleen Wynne, Ontario’s first female and openly-gay Premier, Scott Brison, vice-chairperson of BMO Capital Markets and Canada’s first openly-gay Federal Minister, Tynomi Banks, a famous Toronto drag queen, Bill Cutler, a CP24 media personality and Devon Heroux a CBS News sports and Olympics personality.
Moreso, the proceeds of the 2022 Pride and Remembrance run are expected to assist the AIDS Committee of Toronto, Fife House, Gilbert Centre, Rainbow Railroad and the Pride and Remembrance Foundation. Registration opens on Friday, April the 29th, 2022.
