The Impact of Cryptocurrencies on Canadian Online Casinos

Published

 on

The rise of the digital world of finance was made possible due to technology. Credit cards are some of the most popular payment methods today, and they also prompted the rise of additional banking options. It didn’t take long for companies to invent digital wallets as well as mobile payment apps and make them convenient payment options.

Inventions didn’t stop and that’s why there are cryptocurrencies available today. They are digital coins with lots of perks for their users, as they put them in charge of the entire system. One of the sectors that decided to adopt them early on was the iGaming sector.

It’s a sector that’s no stranger to tech innovations as it frequently adopts them to ensure a unique casino experience. As a result of such a nature, cryptocurrencies have impacted the world of online casinos. Canada is one of the most virile iGaming markets, which is why the best crypto casinos for Canada are some of the top ones in the world.

They feature various games, promotions, payment options, and more. Aside from that, crypto casino users will enjoy a greater dose of security when they’re using their favorite crypto payment methods online. In addition, swift transactions are part of the mix.

Cryptocurrencies Enhancing Security in Canadian Online Gambling

Security is a paramount issue with online casinos in Canada. Each site employs a variety of tools to keep players safe. SSL encryption is part of the mix of tools that keeps transactions safe. Moreover, operators and players are kept safe thanks to a security system made up of firewalls, fraud prevention tools as well and multi-factor authentication. A cybersecurity team updates this system and ensures their agents are familiar with new online threats.

Various types of digital coins offer an additional layer of security. They aren’t connected to any third parties such as banks and other financial institutions. By doing so, they don’t expose any financial or personal data of their users. Moreover, each user is an owner of their assets on the virtual ledger.

They will get to access them with a username and password, which are the only keys to getting into their crypto account. By using them, they remain anonymous as their transactions don’t appear on their bank accounts, but on their crypto wallets. By combining crypto security with online casino security, Canadian punters can stay safe whenever they decide to visit a casino online. They can access their assets and deposit to their accounts to enjoy all sorts of games and features.

Blockchain and Transparent Transactions

Blockchain is the backbone of cryptocurrency. It’s a system that uses a digital ledger where each user can see their transactions. Thanks to this feature, Canadian online casinos can offer a better level of transparency when conducting transactions. The ledger records all deposits and withdrawals and players can access them at any time. This sort of transparency also ensures the games are fair, and as such enhances the fairness and randomness of any casino title, which may not be the case for traditional casinos.

Thanks to smart contracts, operators can automate the payment process. They can ensure terms and conditions are met and that each operation is executed promptly. Players can deposit and withdraw money without waiting for confirmation from third parties.

They can also transfer their winnings into fiat currency. There are plenty of online platforms called crypto exchanges where they can turn their cryptocurrencies into Canadian dollars, US dollars, Euros, and more. Alternatively, they can swap them for other digital coins. Online casinos can also offer larger prize pools for anyone looking to win big.

These transactions don’t take too long to complete. Deposits take a matter of seconds to complete, so crypto casino players can enjoy their games in no time. Withdrawals may take a couple of minutes or a maximum of 48 hours to be processed. This depends on the casino site you’re using.

However, crypto withdrawals take significantly less time to process than traditional payment methods. Additionally, they will come with a fee, which is a fraction of what you would pay if you made a withdrawal with one of the traditional casino payment methods.

Taking Canadian Online Casinos a Step Further

With the enhanced security, each Canadian crypto punter can enjoy an improved online casino experience. On top of that, they can enjoy swift transactions due to an automated process. Fast deposits and withdrawals are a plus in anyone’s book which is why Canadian casino fans will find lots of virtual currencies available as banking options at online casinos. Aside from these two ways, cryptocurrencies have brought about the inception of an additional type of online casino. The casinos in question are crypto casinos

Sure, some traditional online casinos offer cryptocurrencies, but they aren’t quite like the hardcore crypto casinos. They offer a crypto-based system that relies solely on these types of currencies. Only crypto casino fans are able to play at these establishments, but they get all the perks of using the currencies. So, they get enhanced security measures and lightning-fast transactions. On top of that, they own their assets and they can exchange them for other crypto coins or fiat currency.

Crypto casinos are quite popular nowadays and will continue to be so in the future.

To Wrap Up

Cryptocurrency has taken the digital world of Canada by surprise. The financial sector, as well as many others, is still adapting to these changes. The iGaming sector in the country was quite quick to adopt these currencies and offer unique benefits to each player using them.

They offer anonymity, security, and speedy transactions. They help out operators and players which is why they’re bound to stay more popular. Cryptocurrencies play an important world in the iGaming world in general which is why they’re here to stay. They will continue offering a unique casino gaming experience and work in unison with future technologies to continue to expand the world of online casinos.

Government intervention in Air Canada talks a threat to competition: Transat CEO

Published

 on

Demands for government intervention in Air Canada labour talks could negatively affect airline competition in Canada, the CEO of travel company Transat AT Inc. said.

“The extension of such an extraordinary intervention to Air Canada would be an undeniable competitive advantage to the detriment of other Canadian airlines,” Annick Guérard told analysts on an earnings conference call on Thursday.

“The time and urgency is now. It is time to restore healthy competition in Canada,” she added.

Air Canada has asked the federal government to be ready to intervene and request arbitration as early as this weekend to avoid disruptions.

Comments on the potential Air Canada pilot strike or lock out came as Transat reported third-quarter financial results.

Guérard recalled Transat’s labour negotiations with its flight attendants earlier this year, which the company said it handled without asking for government intervention.

The airline’s 2,100 flight attendants voted 99 per cent in favour of a strike mandate and twice rejected tentative deals before approving a new collective agreement in late February.

As the collective agreement for Air Transat pilots ends in June next year, Guérard anticipates similar pressure to increase overall wages as seen in Air Canada’s negotiations, but reckons it will come out “as a win, win, win deal.”

“The pilots are preparing on their side, we are preparing on our side and we’re confident that we’re going to come up with a reasonable deal,” she told analysts when asked about the upcoming negotiations.

The parent company of Air Transat reported it lost $39.9 million or $1.03 per diluted share in its quarter ended July 31. The result compared with a profit of $57.3 million or $1.49 per diluted share a year earlier.

Revenue totalled $736.2 million, down from $746.3 million in the same quarter last year.

On an adjusted basis, Transat says it lost $1.10 per share in its latest quarter compared with an adjusted profit of $1.10 per share a year earlier.

It attributed reduced revenues to lower airline unit revenues, competition, industry-wide overcapacity and economic uncertainty.

Air Transat is also among the airlines facing challenges related to the recall of Pratt & Whitney turbofan jet engines for inspection and repair.

The recall has so far grounded six aircraft, Guérard said on the call.

“We have agreed to financial compensation for grounded aircraft during the 2023-2024 period,” she said. “Alongside this financial compensation, Pratt & Whitney will provide us with two additional spare engines, which we intend to monetize through a sell and lease back transaction.”

Looking ahead, the CEO said she expects consumer demand to remain somewhat uncertain amid high interest rates.

“We are currently seeing ongoing pricing pressure extending into the winter season,” she added. Air Transat is not planning on adding additional aircraft next year but anticipates stability.

“(2025) for us will be much more stable than 2024 in terms of fleet movements and operation, and this will definitely have a positive effect on cost and customer satisfaction as well,” the CEO told analysts.

“We are more and more moving away from all the disruption that we had to go through early in 2024,” she added.
