An interesting idea is floating around the Toronto City Council these days. Tearing down antiquated highways and using some of these lands for much-needed downtown housing starts. Not a new idea, but finally it may be able to float with a stern anchor tp answer Toronto’s Housing Crisis. Toronto is a mess, over construction, road blocks, expanded road closures, flooding, and antiquated electrical grid and plumbing systems. Oh yeah, the City has no money to boot. Crying poor to the Province and Federal Governments, the City still shows limited promise when one considers the solutions it presents to its many problems.
Not necessarily Mayor Chow‘s fault. The City Bureaucracy and combined Council seem to be unable to accomplish much that they can show the public has been successfully managed for their benefit. Has City Democracy failed in Toronto? Is a strong-armed Mayor needed to whip the Council and bureaucrats into shape? The engineering and planning departments seem to be as antiquated in their efforts as the city’s infrastructure. Firing and new hiring of a team with a vision may be the answer to a decade-old problem. While the City floats or sinks depending on where it is situated, the population waits for creative, functioning plans to answer the question on their minds…What is next Toronto?
