New York Islanders season ticket holders got quite a surprise on Friday.
On an exclusive zoom call with owner Jon Ledecky, general manager Lou Lamoriello crashed the party.
“Good morning, did I interrupt here?” Lamoriello asks, bursting into the call with plenty of energy. “I don’t know I might have jumped into the wrong Zoom here, but it sounds like Jon Ledecky talking.”
Lamoriello joked as if he wasn’t supposed to be in the call, much to the delight of the Islanders fans in attendance.
“Seeing I’m in here if you’d like me to answer any questions, I’ll do that and as soon as you’ve had enough of me just cut me off,” Lamoriello said.
“I think the fans would love to hear more from you than from me,” Ledecky said.
The Islanders shared a few more clips with fans asking about everything from roster moves to the team’s chances in the playoffs to the new Belmont Park arena.
Lamoriello called the development of the new facility “exceptional.”
“When the fans see the results, they’re going to be ecstatic,” Lamoriello said.
