From its inception in 2006, Grenada’s Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park has attracted divers, snorkellers, and sightseers visiting on glass-bottom boats. Until recently, the first-of-its-kind attraction, considered the world’s very first underwater sculpture park, featured more than 40 submerged artworks, most of them life-sized figures modelled after Grenadian children.
But during my trip there in early November, the park underwent a major expansion, when 31 more sculptures — most of them part of a new installation called “Coral Carnival,” also rooted in Grenadian culture — were added.
