Indigenous people need to get their act together, very soon from now. The constant infighting between various indigenous organizations and sectors of their communities slows down the momentum for social change and brings about truth and reconciliation. A unity of purpose and language spoken to the Authorities must become stronger and more forceful if you are to achieve what it is you seek.
Do you seek the following:
1. Fulfill your treaty and land promises.
2. Accomplish a transformation of your social and community to benefit all within your communities.
3. Force an evolution of your status within the regions or nations that you reside in.
4. Become the solution, becoming purposeful partners within your community agreements and goals.
5. Develop new futuristic goals and purposeful strategies in dealing with your fellow partners in actual real negotiations with real notable real-time results.
Recessions and governmental reactions to excessive public debt may very well stall your pathways to change. It is easy enough to promise billions to your people, but seeing the revenue actually flow toward those concerned is another thing. You have heard promises of drilling to make fresh water available to your people right? Still, many reservations and indigenous communities lack fresh water. Governmental promises are often made to create a photo shoot opportunity, or create an image of public responses to a wrong done, but as Jerry Maguire said “Show me the money”.
Recessions, public debt, and Provincial Government stalling will all block your efforts. The administration will give your leaders opportunities to achieve their 15 minutes of fame while holding out on payment, assistance, and governmental assurance. The Roman Catholic Church continues to stall payment of $30 million dollars because they can. An excuse, and asking for forgiveness are all they believe are needed. You saw the Pope visit, but real change and investment from them did not happen. You need to force the issue, whatever it may be.
Remember my Indigenous Friends, he who remains silent is easily forgotten. He who remains peaceful will have to buy their own lunch and try, try again. Change happens only when the authorities fear and don’t know what you will do next. Do and see how those who once ruled you will respond. Your time is now, and remember only belief in your future actions will surmount the burden of governmental inaction.
