Twenty-two new constables were set to be sworn in with the Waterloo Regional Police Service on Friday at a badging ceremony in Waterloo.
The service said Recruit Class 124 has completed basic training at the Ontario Police College. The ceremony was scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.
Police said the recruits came from a range of fields before joining, including agriculture, carpentry, animal control, commercial trucking, fitness, sales, education and construction. Some worked as service cadets.
Members of the police service board, the senior leadership team, the Ontario Court of Justice, volunteers, family and friends were expected to attend.
The service’s announcement was issued Thursday at 10:07 a.m. Information on joining the service is posted on its Join Our Team page.
