Confidential tips
Send us a tip
Know something Canadians should know? Our reporters investigate tips, documents and story leads from readers across the country. You can reach us confidentially, and you do not have to tell us who you are.
What makes a useful tip
Tell us what happened, who is involved, when and where it took place, and how you know. The more specific you are, the faster we can check it.
Point us to records that can prove it: documents, contracts, emails, photos, court files or public filings. Let us know if others can confirm what you saw.
How we protect sources
We never reveal a confidential source. We will not publish your name or any detail that could identify you without your permission.
Every tip is treated as a starting point. We verify independently before anything is published, and we may contact you to ask follow-up questions.
Protect yourself
Do not use a work computer, work phone, work email or workplace Wi-Fi to contact us. Use a personal device on a home or mobile network.
You can stay anonymous. If you prefer, write from a new personal email account that is not linked to your name.
Before you send documents
Only share what you are comfortable sharing, and think about who else had access to the same files. If a document could be traced back to you, describe it first and we will talk about safer ways to verify it. Please do not put yourself at legal or physical risk to get information for us.
