Nova Scotia Power and Halifax Regional Police have sent out tweets warning residents of a scam regarding a power bill.
The power utility first posted a tweet saying a caller is posing as a NSP employee telling a customer their service will be cut off unless a payment is made.
SCAM ALERT: We’re warning customers of a phone scam. The caller poses as NSP and tells customers their service will be cut unless they make a payment. Caller is reported to demand bitcoin. If you receive this call, report to HRP at 902-490-5020, or your local police station.

The caller is looking for the payment to be made in bitcoin.
If you have received a call of this nature, Halifax Police say to not engage with the caller and to contact Halifax Police.
