HALIFAX – Police have identified the 19-year-old suspect accused of stabbing a six-year-old child in downtown Halifax on Sunday.
Halifax Regional Police issued a statement today saying Elliott Chorny is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court this morning to face charges of attempted murder and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Police say Chorny was arrested Sunday afternoon near the 1900 block of Barrington Street, where a child had been found suffering from life-threatening stab wounds.
Investigators say the victim and suspect are not believed to be known to each other.
The victim is being treated in hospital.
Police are asking anyone who may have video from the area around the time of the incident to contact them.
