March 12th, 1947, President Truman pledged to all oppressed peoples worldwide that in the name of Lady Liberty, America would support all free peoples who resist subjugation by armed minorities or outside political or economic pressures such as Communism. A bold promise made by a man of action. This President sent the Atomic Bomb to Japan, making a decision that allowed the world to enter the Atomic Era. This pledge has passed to many of America’s Presidents and their administrations. Free those in peril and spread the doctrine of Democratic Principles to our world.
Since that speech was made, many Presidents have made similar pledges to help the struggling people of the world. America has promised to help others until now, what with an administration that proclaims openly that American interests are always first. America, before others, has become the MAGA battle cry.
The Persian World is struggling against Theocracy and Religious oppression, with mass marches involving over a million+ people searching for something better than Religious-Political autocracy. What is America and the EU going to do about this? What will they promise to these struggling masses?
The past tells us what may very well happen.
America promised to support these people in their struggle to establish democracy in their homelands…
The German People were separated by superpower decisions (East vs West Germany)
The Vietnamese People accepted American assistance, and when the dominoes were falling, America ran away.
The Afghan People who supported American Forces were left behind, and this nation has become a zone of death as it is ignored by the American Government. Afghanistan remains a breadbasket nation where thousands die of starvation while their government stands by. A UN Disaster Zone.
Hungary and the Czech People were all promised support during their attempt to free themselves, only to fall back into the hands of Soviet Masters. Much of their Capital Cities were destroyed by Soviet Tanks.
Cuban Exiles attempted to bring the Castro Government down, but again America promised support, only to not show up when they were needed the most. Over a hundred thousand Cubans were killed or imprisoned while America placed an embargo upon the tiny Island Nation, stifling its economy and social development.
American forces interjected themselves in various Central and Latin American Nations to support tin pot dictatorships often controlled and supported by American Corporate Influencers.
IRAN MUST DO IT FOR THEMSELVES. America has promised their support for these protestors twice now and it seems that America will continue with its equation of diplo-speak, promising the moon and stars but coming through with nothing substantial. Yes Freedom is important to Americans. It is the eternal calling card of all American Societal Expressions, both political, social and financial, but it is a call for American Freedom first and before any other people. Remember America will now support those who support America. A selfish, greedy and misguided approach to American Diplomacy and Governmental Administration that will isolate and distort the Mythological American Dream.
“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore”. Lady Liberty wears the message, proclaims and magnifies it. How horrid it may seem to those who wrote and placed the plaque onto the base of Lady Libert,y only to find America backsliding into autocracy and selfish ignorance. Go it alone, America and see a future of thorns and putrid isolationism. A long time ago, your word meant something. America’s word was its bond of honour and grace. No more, Madam. No more.
