BETHLEHEM — As small business owners trudge through the economic shock of the COVID-19 pandemic, the town of Bethlehem has launched a new initiative to support their local entrepreneurs.
Town leaders are encouraging residents to take to social media with photos of themselves patronizing local businesses with the hashtag #InvestInBethlehem to raise awareness about the businesses remaining open during the pandemic.

“The (Bethlehem Democratic Committee) has a great network that we wanted to leverage in a way that would raise funds and build community support for our businesses and community members,” BDC Chair Joanne Cunningham said in a press release. “As local businesses struggle to stay open and keep our neighbors employed, we are encouraging everyone who is able to support our local small business community and neighborhood organizations.”
There are a number of #InvestinBethlehem posts on Facebook shining the spotlight on businesses such as M&K Greenhouse, Losee’s Deli and Shawna’s Dogs.

Also as part of the campaign, if residents donate to the Bethlehem Community Fund or Chamber of Commerce, the BDC has pledged to match up to $4,000.
“The enthusiasm of the Bethlehem Community to support local businesses is heartwarming,” Maureen McGuiness, president of the BCC, said in the press release. “This support of local businesses is one of the things that add to the character of our community.”
