Is the iPad Pro 11-inch M5 worth it?

It depends on what you do with a tablet. The M5 chip, up to 16GB of memory and Apple’s Ultra Retina XDR display put it well above any other iPad, and the listing highlights on-device Apple Intelligence tasks and a windowed iPadOS 26 for pro apps. If you edit video, sketch, mix music or run several apps at once, that headroom is the reason to pay for a Pro.

If you mostly watch video, browse and read, you are paying for power you will rarely use. At $1,699.99 the tablet costs more than many laptops, and that is before accessories.

What do owners say?

Reviews on the Amazon.ca listing are positive but still few, with 85 ratings so far. One buyer who chose the 11-inch over the 13-inch said the smaller model felt more portable, and that the M5 was fast and responsive and should extend the life of the tablet. Another reviewer who has owned many iPads called this one excellent but gave four stars over battery life, saying it does not last six hours with regular use.

Battery life is the complaint to weigh. The other recurring theme is price, with some shoppers saying they wanted a Pro but found it expensive.

iPad Pro 11-inch vs 13-inch: which size?

The 13-inch iPad Pro (M5) lists at $2,099.00 for 256GB on Amazon.ca, about $399 more than the 11-inch. It has the same chip and the same 12MP cameras, so the choice is about screen size and how you carry it. Artists and anyone who wants a laptop replacement tend to like the larger canvas, while the 11-inch is easier to hold and slip into a bag.

Do you need the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro?

Both are sold separately. On Amazon.ca the Magic Keyboard for the 11-inch iPad Pro is listed at $399.00 and the Apple Pencil Pro at $169.00. Together they add $568 to the bill, which brings the total to about $2,268 before tax. Apple’s listing says the Pro also works with the USB-C Apple Pencil, which costs less.

Who should skip it?

Skip the Pro if you mainly stream, read and video chat, if you do not use pro creative apps, or if you want a tablet for a child. Anyone who simply wants the iPad experience will be well served by a cheaper model.

Is there a cheaper alternative?

Yes, two. The iPad Air 11-inch with the M4 chip is listed at $1,149.99 for 256GB and holds a 4.6-star rating from 151 ratings. The standard 11-inch iPad with the A16 chip is $649.00 for 128GB, carries 4.7 stars from about 2,700 ratings and is labelled #1 Top Rated on the listing, with more than 1,000 bought in the past month.
