Andrej Kramaric scored once and set up two more goals as Hoffenheim beat Lyon 3-0 at PreZero Arena in Sinsheim, Germany, on Thursday for their first points of the Europa League league phase.
Kramaric opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, in the 45th minute plus four, with a header from the left side of the six-yard box. Four minutes after halftime, Adam Daghim made it 2-0 with a right-footed shot from the centre of the box, set up by Kramaric.
Adam Hlozek completed the scoring in the 83rd minute, again finishing from the centre of the box with a right-footed shot, with Kramaric providing the assist for the third time on the night. A crowd of 21,029 attended.
The win was the first of the competition for Hoffenheim, who had gone into the match without a point after their opening two matches and now have three. Lyon, who arrived with six points, stayed on six.
Kramaric’s involvement in all three goals made him the standout performer, a point highlighted in post-match reports from outlets including Tribal Football, which said Kramaric got Hoffenheim off the mark in the competition.
It was one of a number of one-sided results on Thursday. Real Sociedad crushed Lillestrom 6-0, Bournemouth beat 10-man AC Milan 3-0 and Juventus were held 2-2 by Rennes.
