A 25-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 20-year-old man in Regina’s North Central neighbourhood earlier this month, police say.
Officers were called to the 1300 block of Robinson Street, near Albert Community School, at about 2 p.m. on Oct. 3 and found a man with a gunshot wound, the Regina Police Service said in a news release on Thursday, Oct. 22. Officers tried lifesaving measures, but he was declared dead at the scene, CBC News reported.
Police arrested Maddison Blueeyes, 25, on an outstanding warrant at a home in the 700 block of McTavish Street on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and he has since been charged with first-degree murder, Global News and CBC reported. The charge has not been tested in court.
Blueeyes made his first appearance in Regina provincial court on Thursday morning and was remanded in custody until his next court date on Oct. 29.
The police major crimes unit and forensic identification unit investigated with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. Police said the death was Regina’s sixth homicide of 2026.
