9/11 Attack: Who was being attacked? Most of the West would say America was the main target of Extremist Muslim Terror. The Twin Towers and Pentagon made for excellent and impactful symbols, targets of American Excess/Capitalism and Expansionism. American attitudes that allowed a foreign nation like America to stick its noise into the businesses of many other nations. Perhaps an attack against America’s never ending consumerism? The harvesting of other nations resources to fulfill the needs and desires of America’s unquenchable diet of consumption.
Perhaps this attack was much more, something closer to the hearts of those exploited in the past to the present? Was 9/11 an attack upon Western Colonialism? After all many of our great super powers are financial-political empires expanding in an effort to not die like the Roman empire of old. If you do not grow, if you stagnate you are thought to be dying as a nation or even an individual. The Taliban-al Qaeda connection aside, this group did what many other smaller nations and international organization only dreamed off, that being to take on the Tiger of Imperialism and disable it if only symbolically. 3000+ lives after, the West seemed to not have thoughts about why these few men and women did what they did. The West turned to its security-military apparatus only for the domestically needed revenge. Revenge would quiet the demands of America and warn the world of international terrorism that there are consequences to be paid for such an assault.
Who was involved in this attack? Several organizations and at least a dozen nation states flowing throughout Africa, Asia Minor, Mexico, the Middle East and some Western Nations too( CIA suggestions Website). Some Super Powers supplied intelligence, training and funds to this operation.
Thousands of men and women working towards a number of goals, attacking what they may call “the Great Satan” but actually attempting the near impossible….telling America and the West to mind their own business, stop putting their greedy hands into the jars of poorer nations just trying to move up to 2-3 nation status. Poverty and Indiscriminately attacked Populations taking on “global titans”.
Is imperialism and colonialism dead? Not yet but it is transforming into a global effort united by a unquenchable hunger for power, riches and simply to keep the little guy grounded in poverty and survival mode.
Why did they attack the Twin Towers and Pentagon? They are still symbols of American-Western Wealth and Power. Even though the towers fell, the mythology behind 9/11 will keep generations pivoted to its official cause that of global terrorism, the threat within the shadows while trillions of dollars are still be spend on to fight. Governments will spend upon social security and their military, but on its own populations needs? What are the priorities of your government?
