Resident Evil 3 Remake for PC benchmarked
Preliminary PC graphics performance review for Windows 10 with 30 graphics cards

A remake of the 1999 Resident Evil 3, a playstyle that is similar to Resident Evil2’s remake in 2019, yep we landed at Resident Evil 3 (Nemesis). Resident Evil 3 stars Jill Valentine as she escapes from Raccoon City while being pursued by the unrelenting bioweapon Nemesis. Players can also participate in previously untold Umbrella experiments on the outskirts of Raccoon City in the included online asymmetrical multiplayer game Resident Evil Resistance, previously known as the working title Project Resistance.  obviously the Remake looks better, however, it’s really cool comparing these two versions. In case you didn’t know, Resident Evil 3 originally came out twenty years ago, in 1999 and as such, there has been quite a graphical evolution of RE3.

The PC version has better visuals based on new graphical and technical enhancements for deeper immersion. It is the third installment in the Resident Evil series and takes place in two parts, before and after the events of Resident Evil 2. The story follows Jill Valentine and her efforts to escape from a city infected with a biological weapon. Choices through the game affect the story and ending. The game uses the same engine as its predecessors and features 3D models over pre-rendered backgrounds with fixed camera angles. Originally planned as a spin-off featuring a different protagonist, Resident Evil 3 was designed to have more action-oriented gameplay than previous Resident Evil games. It features a larger number of enemies and introduces the Nemesis creature, which periodically pursues the player. Accompanied by a major marketing campaign, Resident Evil 3 received positive reviews and sold more than three million copies worldwide. Critics praised the game’s detailed graphics and the Nemesis as an intimidating villain, but some criticized its short length and story.

We take a look at the game in our usual in-depth ways. That would be tested on the PC gaming wise relative towards graphics card performance with the latest AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers. Many graphics cards are being tested and benchmarked. We have a look at performance with the newest graphics cards and technologies. Multiple graphics cards are being tested and benchmarked with the latest cards such as the GeForce GTX 10 and RTX 20 (Super) series included as well as the latest Radeon RX series 500, Vega, and 5000 graphics cards. You are going to need a reasonably modern PC with at least a mainstream graphics card to run the game nicely.  This article will cover benchmarks in the sense of average framerates, we’ll look at all popular resolutions scaling from Full HD (1920×1080/1200), WQHD (2560×1440) and of course Ultra HD. UHDTV (2160p) is 3840 pixels wide by 2160 pixels tall (8.29 megapixels), which is four times as many pixels as 1920×1080 (2.07 megapixels).  We test with the game based on the optimized and available AMD Radeon driver (download) and for Nvidia their GeForce WHQL driver (download). We’ll test the game on the PC platform relative to graphics card performance with the AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers.

Highlights of the day: YMTC said to enter SSD brand business

DIGITIMES staff

Friday 5 June 2020

China-based NAND flash maker YMTC reportedly is looking to cross into brand SSD business in the third quarter and will focus on supplying the devices to PC makers. Meanwhile, Apple’s new iPhones using OLED panels for 2021 may adopt LTPO backplane in order to reduce their power consumption. With Huawei under the US’ new sanctions, Taiwan’s IC substrate makers have begun turning to strife for more orders from other clients particularly those in the US.

YMTC may unveil own-brand SSDs in 3Q20: China-based Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC) reportedly will in third-quarter 2020 launch its own-brand SSDs adopting in-house-developed 64-layer 3D NAND flash, with target outlets including PC OEMs, according to industry sources.

OLED screens of iPhones may adopt LTPO backplanes in 2021, say sources: Apple has yet to introduce its 5G iPhones for 2020, but its supply chain is already developing OLED screens using LTPO (low temperature polycrystalline oxide) backplane technology for next year’s premium iPhone models, according industry sources.

IC substrate makers shifting focus to US clients from Huawei: Taiwan-based IC substrate makers including Unimicron Technology and Na Ya PCB are gearing up to strengthen business ties with US clients seeking to offset expected losses of orders from China’s Huawei/Hisilicon subject to tougher US trade sanctions starting September, according to industry sources.
