Canadian pop singer Tate McRae’s new single “Housewife” debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, Billboard reported on Oct. 26, 2026, with 55.9 million streams worldwide in the tracking week of Oct. 16 to 22.
It is McRae’s first debut at the top of either chart and her second No. 1 on each, after “Greedy” led the Global 200 for two weeks and the Global Excl. U.S. chart for five weeks in 2023 and 2024, Billboard said.
The song also sold 6,000 copies globally, according to Billboard, which compiles the rankings from Luminate data covering more than 200 territories. Outside the United States, it drew 34.9 million streams. The charts are dated Oct. 31 and went live on Billboard’s website on Oct. 27.
The Billboard figures follow a strong first day on Spotify. “Housewife” opened at No. 1 on Spotify’s daily global chart on Oct. 16 with 5.67 million streams, and at No. 1 in the United States with 2.43 million streams, Headline Planet reported on Oct. 17.
McRae released the song, with its official video, on Oct. 15. She gave the track its live debut on Oct. 18 at the 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which Canada News Media covered. Our earlier report on the single’s release date has the rollout.
The week was crowded at the top. Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan’s “Expectations” climbed from No. 145 to No. 2 on the Global 200 after an Oct. 15 remix, with 45.2 million streams, up 339 per cent. Zach Bryan and Lana Del Rey’s “Lies” debuted at No. 5 with 27.7 million streams and 7,000 sales.
Karol G, Judeline and rusowsky’s “BbY WOW” slipped to No. 3 on the Global 200 after six weeks at No. 1, while ADÉLA’s “Nicole Kidman” fell to No. 4. On the Global Excl. U.S. chart, “BbY WOW” dropped to No. 2 after six weeks on top.
The global chart win does not yet say how “Housewife” will fare on the Billboard Hot 100, the U.S. singles chart. Billboard’s report did not give a Hot 100 position for the song. McRae’s highest Hot 100 placing cited by Billboard is “Greedy” at No. 3 in January 2024, her only top-10 hit on that chart. Her album “So Close to What” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart dated March 8 with 177,000 equivalent album units, Billboard reported.
For Canadian fans, the result adds to a busy fall for the country’s pop exports. Bryan, whose “Lies” also charted this week, has booked stadium shows in Vancouver and Edmonton for 2027. Billboard Canada, meanwhile, is preparing its Women In Music event in Toronto on Nov. 24.
Billboard’s next global charts, covering Oct. 23 to 29, will show whether “Housewife” holds the top spot against Rodrigo and Roan’s surging remix.
