Tourist attractions across China have rolled out a series of incentives to attract visitors back after being closed down for months due to mandated COVID-19 lockdowns.
By promoting its “accessible natural tour”, the Shanghai Natural History Museum has served 1,200 disabled visitors with its accessible video tour guide and sign language interpreter this year.
“We will further explore diversified services for different social groups, and make our education activities responding the public’s needs,” said Gu Qingsheng, deputy director of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum.
In northwest China, Shaanxi Province has offered free entrance to scenic spots and free coupons to tourists to boost the recovery of its consumer market and tourism industry.
Thanks to the initiative, the local cultural tourism bureau has distributed 300,000 yuan (about 42,857 U.S. dollars) of coupons to citizens, which has resulted to an increase in visitors at the Yong Xing Fang, one of the famous tourism attractions with historical sceneries in Shaanxi’s capital Xi’an City, where tourists can enjoy performances of intangible cultural heritages and authentic local snacks.
“There have been about 20 to 30 buses bringing considerable amounts of tourists to Yong Xing Fang each day ever since the inter-provincial tours resumed. The peak of visitor number comes around 18:00 every day. And the scenic spot has made a profit doubled upon previous days under such a positive signal for the cultural tourism industry,” said Duan Xiaoyu, the manager of the developer company of Yong Xing Fang.
