The Blue Jays reached agreement on one-year contracts with 11 arbitration-eligible players on Thursday, avoiding the potential of a hearing with each of them.
But there was one noticeable absence from the list and it is a big one: Vlad Guerrero Jr.
Meanwhile, topping the list of those signing deals before Thursday’s deadline was closer Jordan Romano, who will get a healthy $7.75 million US in 2024. Next up was outfielder Daulton Varsho, who will earn $5.65 million followed by catcher Danny Jansen at $5.2 million and infielder Cavan Biggio at $4.21 million.
The rest of the list includes lefty reliever Tim Mayza ($3.59 million); catcher Alejandro Kirk ($2.8 million); infielder Santiago Espinal ($2.75 million); righty reliever Erik Swanson ($2.75 million); righty reliever Trevor Richards ($2.15 million); lefty reliever Genesis Cabrera ($1.51 million); and right-hander Nate Pearson ($800,000.)
