Tiohtià:ke/Moonyang/Montreal, August 7, 2024 – The Coalition du Québec URGENCE Palestine invites the media to a press briefing that will take place on August 8 at 10 AM in front of the CDPQ offices, 1000 place Jean-Paul Riopelle, Montréal.
The Coalition du Québec URGENCE Palestine requested a meeting with the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) on July 2. This request was accompanied by a letter, co-signed by some sixty organizations, entitled “CDPQ must end its complicity in Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people“. The request for a meeting was to discuss in greater depth certain CDPQ investments – totalling $14.2 billion, in 87 companies – investments “that objectively place it in a position of complicity with Israel’s violations of international law and the human rights of the Palestinian people, and even in a position of complicity with the genocide that Israel is currently committing against the Palestinian population of Gaza”.
The CDPQ has agreed to our request for a meeting, which will take place late on Wednesday, August 7.
The Coalition and its allies wish to quickly inform the public of the content of this meeting and its results at a press briefing. Different members of the delegation formed for this meeting with the CDPQ will be present:
· Diane Lamoureux, Coalition du Québec Urgence Palestine (FR/EN)
· Raymond Legault, Coalition du Québec Urgence Palestine (FR/EN)
· Benoit Allard, Collectif Désinvestir pour la Palestine (FR/EN)
· Me Paul Fauteux, lawyer specialized in international law (FR/EN)
