Oscar Bobb curled in an 80th-minute goal as Fulham beat Coventry City 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday, handing the newly promoted hosts their second defeat in a week.
Bobb picked up a pass from Josh King and bent a shot into the far corner at the Coventry Building Society Arena, according to Sky Sports. It was the only goal of a low-quality game played in difficult weather conditions, Yahoo Sports reported.
King had come close earlier, hitting the post from inside the area in the 17th minute.
Coventry had their own claims for a penalty and faced two video review checks. Late in the first half, in stoppage time, VAR looked at a possible shirt pull by Coventry’s Brandon Thomas-Asante on Fulham defender Calvin Bassey and cleared it. A possible handball by Coventry’s Shea Charles in his own box was also checked late in the game and cleared, Sky Sports reported.
Fulham have won two matches in a row. The result moved them up to 12th in the table, out of the relegation zone, though Yahoo Sports noted the position may be only temporary. Coventry remain 19th after eight games.
Fulham are next scheduled to host Crystal Palace in the League Cup on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and then visit Aston Villa in the league on Saturday, Oct. 31, according to FotMob. Coventry are scheduled to host Sunderland on Oct. 31.
Other Premier League results on Saturday included Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Everton and Aston Villa’s 2-1 win over Manchester City, the side Fulham will meet next in the league. In February, Fulham winger Kevin was ruled out for several weeks with a foot injury.
