EDMONTON – Evan Bouchard scored on a four-on-three power play in overtime to give the Edmonton Oilers a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night at Rogers Place.
The Oilers blew a two-goal lead in the third period before finishing the game after the Wild were called for too many men on the ice in overtime, according to the NHL.com Oilers game recap. Connor McDavid assisted on the winner.
Leon Draisaitl scored twice on the power play for Edmonton, including a five-on-three goal in the final seconds of the first period that tied the game 1-1. McDavid assisted on both goals, and the recap listed Draisaitl with eight goals this season, the most on the team.
Mathieu Joseph also scored for the Oilers, his second goal in as many games, giving Edmonton a 3-1 lead in the second period. Devon Levi made 27 saves in the win.
Minnesota took the lead early when Joel Eriksson Ek scored on a second attempt in tight on Levi. Kirill Kaprizov cut the Oilers’ lead to 3-2 in the third period, and Ryan Hartman tied the game 3-3 later in the period. Jesper Wallstedt made 28 stops for the Wild.
McDavid finished with three assists and extended his point streak to nine games, according to the NHL.com recap. The Oilers outshot Minnesota 15-12 in the first period and 8-7 in the second, the only period totals the recap gave.
The game opened a five-game homestand for Edmonton. The Oilers beat the Mammoth 6-2 on Saturday, a game in which McDavid had five points, after a 4-2 loss to Utah earlier in the week and a 4-1 win over the Kings.
