Updated Oct. 28, 2026
The Canada Border Services Agency will change opening and closing times at 26 land border crossings in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba at 2 a.m. local time on Sunday, Nov. 1. The new hours run until 2 a.m. on March 14, 2027.
The agency said in three news releases issued Oct. 9 that the changes keep Canadian hours in line with neighbouring U.S. crossings. The three provinces are moving to year-round daylight time, while the United States will keep changing its clocks seasonally, so the agency said it will adjust hours each fall and spring at these sites.
The agency said the alignment helps officers on both sides coordinate when an inadmissible traveller must return immediately to the country they came from. It also said the schedule gives travellers a clearer picture of when each port is open. The releases do not list the hours in effect before Nov. 1.
The change covers nine crossings in B.C., four in Alberta and 13 in Manitoba. At most of them, travellers can cross seven days a week during the hours below, while commercial traffic is limited to weekdays, excluding holidays. All times are local to each province.
If a port is closed when a traveller arrives, the agency said people can use another crossing, and it points to its directory of offices and services to find one. It also said it works with emergency services on both sides of the border so they can cross during emergencies.
The clock change itself is a separate matter. Our guide to where clocks go back on Nov. 1 lists which provinces and territories change their clocks and which do not. Ontario has also announced plans to keep Kenora and other northwestern communities on daylight time, as reported earlier this month.
British Columbia
The Canada Border Services Agency said in its B.C. release that the new hours take effect at 2 a.m. Pacific Time on Nov. 1. Three crossings, Aldergrove, Fraser and Pleasant Camp, keep commercial hours that match traveller hours.

The body of the release says they last until 2 a.m. on March 14, 2027, although one heading on the page gives March 13, so travellers planning a crossing that weekend should confirm with the agency.
